Hanging Shelf Anchors
Hanging shelves on a wall can be a confusing process with all the different types varieties the anchors come in that hold the shelf to the wall. You obviously don’t want just any hook, because that can be very dangerous if you are placing valuables on the shelf. It is quite standard that when you buy a product it will come with the right set of hooks for the shelf, so if that is your case this won’t be that important.
Although sometimes situations do arise when you have to go out and buy some anchors to place the shelf on, and going for the cheapest ones (usually plastic ) isn’t always the best buy. Placing shelves on a wall isn’t hard, it fact it takes minutes, the problem only comes in when you have to buy the supporting anchors which is what I will talk about next.
There are mainly two ways to anchor a hanging shelf and that is with either a plastic anchor or a metal anchor. The plastic anchor is obviously a few times weaker, but the standard ones will do the job of up to 50 pounds of weight, so don’t think they are weak. The metal anchors are extremely strong and are usually used for much heavier items or the garage hanging shelves and are a lot more expensive to buy, but if you have heavy items that are going to be placed don’t take your chances the costs are worth it.
